 REVIEW by WILL RIKER

"Welcome to the Arsenal of Freedom!" That recorded message guy scares me. I mean look at him. He looks like a zombified version of Larry Fine and Frankenstein! Anyway this is a good episode. This is another episode, like "Too Short A Season" that I've seen a million times.

The U.S.S Lollipop. Now that's a name for a ship. In this episode Commander Riker has fun doing exactly what we all like to do. Say crazy wacky crap to a programmed messaging service where you can't talk to a human. Instead we talk to a machine that which says "I'm sorry I didn't here you" when your response isn't exactly what it's programmed to respond to. Unfortunately, the same is true for most human responses too now-a-days:

"Does your cable service offer a sports channel?"

"Our service offers Disney, Cooking, Cartoon."

"Yes but does it have sports?"

"Our service offers Disney, Cooking, Cartoon." etc, etc.

Sorry I got a little off topic. In this case, bad mouthing a robot got poor Commander Riker stuck in an energy field. Luckily that won't happen to us.

I like the little hovering robots in this episode. They have a sleek and compact design plus a lot of fire power and to top it all off, the ability to project holo-images, and the ability to adapt. These babies must have been produced as the perfect weapon.

Well, all I have to say is that they put a whole in a very inconvenient spot! While people are running away from those flying robots, they fall into big wholes! Who designed Minos? Did they think this was a joke? Doctor Crusher and Captain Picard got hurt because of your horrible designs!

I hate that Logan guy! I think after they came up with this flunky they realized they needed a Chief Engineer who didn't make everyone want to hate him. Seriously, when he started pulling his "I'm superior" crap on my man Geordi, I wanted to smack him! Especially since Geordi is the man with the plan in this episode. Take the ship into the atmosphere. When it follows, you'll see it, and you target it. Brilliant!

All in all I thought this episode had a great story and a great lesson. A culture based on power and weapons will inevitably destroy itself. This is the truth and everyone should heed the warning. Anyway, I thought it was a great episode. It had all the elements of a great Trek episode: Good story, action, a lesson, nice shots of the Enterprise, etc, etc. 4 out of 5.
