Professor Moriarty was thought just to be part of the holodeck program Sherlock Holmes, but due to some inconspicuous instructions input by Geordi in 2365, took control of the Enterprise from the holodeck. Luckily, Picard was able to convince him to release the ship.

Clancy was the Assistant Chief Engineer in 2365 when the Enterprise was taken over by the holographic representation of James Moriarty. Clancy was told to make sure no one touched Geordi's recreation of the ancient Earth sailing ship Victory.
