The Antedians are from Antede III. The Enterprise is scheduled to take two Antedian dignitaries to Pacifica where they will represent Antede's petition to join the Federation.

The Antedians travel in suspended animation and are normally very hungry when they are awoken - ingesting huge quantities of their preferred foodstuff, vermiculae.

When asked about similar cultures mealtime traditions to the Betazed chime ceremony, Data describes the Ooolans of Marejaretus VI who continuously strike two stones together while they are eating. They only stop their culinary experience when the stones have been broken. He starts describing about the oligarchy on Atifs IV but is interrupted by Captain Picard.

Betazoid women have a mid-life "phase" similar to a human female's menopause in which they become "fully sexual". Troi claims the Betazoid female sex drive can quadruple... or more. The Phase can interfere with the telepathic abilities of the subject.

Picard claims (although likely in jest) that Data's after-dinner conversations are the stuff of legends aboard the Enterprise.

Data was able to calculate the distance between the Omicron system and the Crab Nebula by multiplying pi by nine to the third power - which, in case you're wondering, comes to 2290.221, although no units are specified.

Data claims that the anomalous chemical composition of brown stars is a particularly "spellbinding subject". Apparently for most stars, the rare element Europium is enriched relative to Samarium and Gadolinium, however in Brown Dwarf Stars, Europium is almost completely depleted.

The "Parrot's Claw" is a Dixon Hill novel.
