Toral very nearly became the leader of the High Council in 2367-68 when his underhanded family with Romulan help almost won a factional civil war for control of the empire and a dissolution of the UFP-Klingon alliance. The bastard son of the late Duras, Toral was fronted by Duras' sisters Lursa and B'Etor.

This half-human blond Romulan was a surprise player on the Romulan stage for a brief span in 2367-68, leading the effort to back the Duras faction during the Klingon civil war. She claims she is the daughter of an alternate-universe Tasha Yar, sent back in time to this universe.

Worf urged Kurn's loyal ships to help back Gowron in the civil war against the challenge of Duras' surviving two sisters and bastard son. A crafty tactician, he pulled the I.K.S. Hegh'ta out of a sure defeat even Worf was about to concede and later freed his tortured brother from his captors.
