This episode took eight and a half days to shoot.

The planned story for this episode fell through, so Brannon Braga stepped in to complete the script, and skipped the story outline stage to save time.

Brannon Braga on "Timescape" - "I wanted to do this as 'man against nature', or 'man against time'. What 'The Abyss' was to deep sea diving, this would be to 'deep-time diving'".

Coincidentally, Deep Time was going to be the title of this episode.

The aft compartment of the runabout vessel created for DS9 was built on TNG's budget to help out its sister show.

The cockpit took seven weeks to create over on DS9, but Jim Mees only had nine days to design and build the living quarters.

Michael Bofshever (Romulan/Alien) played Minister Toran in spinoff DS9's "The Storyteller" and an Excelsior engineer in Star Trek VI.

Two of the conference speakers, Wagner and Vassbinger, come from a date and high school teacher of Brannon Braga.
