Troi's father (Ian Andrew) was played by Byram Amick who played Paul Hickman in "Identity Crisis".

Hilary Bader's original telepathic rescue went through several guises including Crusher and another female doctor, a Geordi story, a Crusher and Troi story and even Lwaxana rescuing Deanna.

Writer René Echevarria was told to tone done Maques' sometimes comical attempts at language.

The scene in the arboretum set was originally to have taken place at a lakeside location.

The appearance of Mr. Homn had to be cut from this episode when it was realised Carel Struycken wouldn't be available.

Norman Large (Maques) played Proconsul Neral in "Unification" and a Kobherian Captain in DS9's "Duet".

Kirsten Dunst (Hedril) starred in "Interview with the Vampire".

The actors and crew weren't allowed close to the trained but still wild wolf used on set. All of the work was done using split screens. Peter Lauritson recalls - "Nobody wanted to be there with the wolf except Dan Curry".

Under the supervision of an official from the American Human Association, the wolf's growling scene was achieved by baiting the wolf with a piece of raw meat and then pulling it away out of reach.

Marina Sirtis completed the jump into space without the need for a stunt double, jumping off a blue screened platform onto air mattresses.
