TNG-R Season 2: Hi-Res Artwork & More Teaser Descriptions

CBS has provided us with a nice high-resolution look at the artwork on the gold-colored Season 2 release of the Star Trek: The Next Generation Remastered Blu-Rays, set to hit stores on December 4. We've also received a new teaser description for the set detailing the contents.

TNG-R Season 2 Blu-Rays: Release Date & Special Features

CBS have today announced an official release date for the sophomore season of Star Trek: The Next Generation on blu-ray. The 5-disc set is due for release on December 4 in the U.S. and Canadian markets. Furthermore, an initial outline of bonus features has also been published to give fans an idea of what's to come on the set.

Season 1 Disc Replacements Coming Soon + Small SFX Fixes

After the quick action of CBS to resolve the anomalies with the Master Audio track in the Star Trek: The Next Generation Season 1 Blu-Ray set, replacement discs are due to start shipping shortly to those customers who have called the hotline.

'Measure of a Man' Special Audio Commentary Included in S2

TrekCore can confirm that CBS will be recording a brand new audio commentary for the fan-favorite episode 'The Measure of a Man' to be included on the upcoming Season 2 Blu-Ray set released later this year. 'Measure of a Man' Extended Cut Details: New Visual Effects

A few new surprises from the TNG-Remastered project emerged yesterday as Creation Entertainment's famous official Star Trek convention continued in Las Vegas. CBS confirmed new details on the extended cut of 'The Measure of a Man' which will be included in the Season 2 blu-ray set released later this year. New Features in TrekCore's TNG Blu-Ray Coverage

When I first started covering the HD remastering of Star Trek: The Next Generation last September, I wasn't prepared for the huge amount of feedback, queries and comments I would receive from fans of the show. Furthermore, the large volume of content that has now accumulated in our TNG Blu-Ray section has started to become difficult to deal with when it's all documented on one page.

Initial TNG S1 Blu-Ray Sales Figures Released

Box Office Data site The-Numbers.com has published some initial sales figures for the release of Star Trek: The Next Generation Season 1 on Blu-Ray. According to their estimates, the set sold a massive 95,435 copies in the first 5 days after release - and those figures are just for the U.S. market...

CBS Issues Statement on TNG S1 Disc Replacement

Just six days after the official release of Star Trek: The Next Generation - Season 1 on Blu-Ray, CBS have issued a press release regarding a disk replacement programme for the three discs in the set affected by audio problems.

TNG Remastered Comic-Con Trailer

IWhen the remastering team visited San Diego Comic Con last week, they brought with them a specially made trailer to promote and preview the remastering of Star Trek: The Next Generation Season 1. The trailer heralds the remastering of "A Science Fiction Classic" and is a great teaser for the upcoming blu-ray set, available to buy from next week! Watch the trailer in our article!

Exclusive! Destruction of the Tsiolkovsky in HD!

More New Stills from TNG Blu-Ray Season 1

Blu-Ray review site Blu-Ray Definition has posted a new review of the 1st Season Star Trek: The Next Generation Blu-Ray set including several new stills. Unfortunately the site has given each still an ugly watermark and compressed the images so they don't represent the true quality of the HD transfer.

New Shots from TNG Blu-Ray Season 1

Ain't it Cool News has posted a review of the Season 1 set of Star Trek: The Next Generation on Blu-Ray. In the review, Glen Oliver states "These TREK: TNG Blu-ray sets may not only be important to STAR TREK, but it's easy to imagine this effort eventually being regarded as critical to the preservation of television history in general."

He also included two new shots from the episodes 'Where No One Has Gone Before' and 'The Arsenal of Freedom'. We show the shots below with the original SD DVD capture for comparison.

Last night I had the pleasure of interviewing both Mike & Denise Okuda on the Star Trek: The Next Generation Remastering Project.

In the first part of this exclusive TrekCore interview, we discussed their upcoming appearance at Comic Con, the cinema screenings and the choices behind the episodes shown, the process of creating new bonus features for the blu-ray, the possibility of audio/text commentaries appearing and the creative decisions made when remastering planets which appear more than once in the show!

New Season 1 SFX Stills!

CBS has today posted a host of new special FX stills from the remastered Star Trek: The Next Generation Season 1 Blu-Ray. We've posted the original shots for comparison! Unfortunately not all of these are in full 1080p resolution, but they are certainly big enough to get a nice taste of what's in store! The shots in question are from (in order) "Where No One Has Gone Before", "Justice", "Datalore" and "Symbiosis".

Exclusive! Planet Minos Revealed in HD!

We've got hold of a brand new exclusive today for everyone eagerly anticipating Season 1 of Star Trek: The Next Generation on Blu-Ray. As a fan I've been intensely curious about how the remastering team will improve upon the infamously low-resolution "bitmap" planet shots from the first season, especially the notorious "Green Planet #1" which cropped up first in the episode as Angel One in "Angel One", only to reoccur in "The Arsenal of Freedom" as Minos, "The Royale" as Theta 116 VII and in "Sarek" as Legara IV.

Unfortunately, they are incredibly small (as seems to usually be the case with the initial pre-release images), but you can get a general idea of the improved color timing and effects shots
