Rivan was the leader of the Edo who inhabit Rubicun III. She was among the group who welcomed the officers of the USS Enterprise-D in 2364. Rivan was beamed aboard the Enterprise with Picard and became highly emotional when she saw the Edo God through an Enterprise viewing window.

Liator was the primary representative of the Edo, along with Rivan, to greet an Enterprise away team when they visited the Edo homeworld in 2364. He was also the lead negotiator when an impasse was reached over a crime committed on the planet by Wesley Crusher.
