Nagilum can best be described as a "hole in space" which is not detectable by any starship sensors. The Enterprise encountered it in 2365. Nagilum was intensely curious about the "human condition" and threatened to kill half the crew to understand death. Luckily, Picard formed a truce and the Enterprise was released.

Enterprise conn-officer in 2365 who was tragically killed by the space-dwelling being known as Nagilum. Nagilum was curious to know everything about humanity, but went too far much to the distress of the Enterpreise crew.
