Vanessa was designed to be a vulnerable lady being taken advantage of by the "high-rolling" entrepreneur Texas. When Data entered the simulation in 2365, he helped turn her luck around.

The Asst Manager, Bellboy and gangster "Mickey D" were all part of the Hotel Royale simulation on Theta VIII in 2365. In the plot, Mickey D shoots the Bellboy when he gets too inquisitive about his girlfriend even after the Asst Manager's warnings to leave it alone.
