"Hugh" was the name given by Geordi LaForge to a teenage Borg rescued in 2368 whose actual designation was Third of Five. From his experience on the Enterprise-D, "Hugh" gained a measure of individuality that later wreaked havoc on the Borg Collective.

Taitt had done her senior honors thesis in solar dynamics, and used that education to devise a plan to induce a solar-fusion eruption from a nearby star to destroy the rogue Borg ship.
