Episode Behind the Scenes

TREKCORE > TNG > EPISODES > DEJA Q > Behind the Scenes

John de Lancie is quoted as saying these were the hardest TNG scenes he had to film. For the bridge scenes, he had to work between 7.00AM and 11.00PM on the eve of Thanksgiving. The simulated trumpet playing took several takes, and after finding no way to fake the nude scene, deLancie finally did it au naturel.

The episode was originally set to tell the story of a looming Klingon-Federation war caused by Q who faked the loss of his powers and then later rushed into save the day. (Source - Star Trek The Next Generation Companion)

Corbin Bensen took the Q2 role to be a part of the Star Trek legacy's humanistic outlook. He's famous for starring in "L.A. Law".

The Berthold rays used by the Calamarain are an homage to classic Trek's "This Side of Paradise".

One of the fantasy women created by Q (the one with long blonde hair) was played by Playboy/pin-up model Sandra Wild. She also played the dabo girl in the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode "Move Along Home", Quark holds her by the wrist at one point and she can be seen in the background of some season one episodes. She is also on the front and back cover for the ZZ Top Greatest Hits CD, with shorter hair.
