Writer Nick Sagan is the son of well known physicist Carl Sagan.

Gates McFadden praised Sagan for "turning her season around".

Jeri Taylor on Nick Sagan - "He was one of the most comfortable freelancers we've ever had."

Original gags for the B-Story had Riker being put on hold with 24th Century 'Elevator Music' and Worf smashing a 'sound altering device' that makes it so no one can hear themselves think.

Originally, Picard and Beverly were to share a kiss and possibly even more around a campfire, but the ideas were all cut by Rick Berman and Michael Piller due to the looming movie spinoff.

Jeri Taylor on after "Attached" - "Where do you go from there? It starts to become a soap opera, and Picard would be sealed off from other stories. Also it seems perfectly legitimate to me, emotionally, that two people who have gone that long, without ever coming together - there must be a reason for that."

The Kesprytt scenes were filmed on location in Bronson Caves, Griffin Park, near the Hollywood sign.

The fireball cave took over six hours of expensive blue screen shooting including lots of split screen work.

FX Coordinator Joe Bauer noted the visible forcefield at the Kes border made more sense than an invisible one, otherwise how would Picard and Beverly recognise it.
