 REVIEW by WILL RIKER

“You’re excused doctor.” This episode was very much so a “introduce a culture” episode. Angel One has a culture similar to views of the old world only reversed. In this society the women are the prominent figures in society and the men have restricted privileges, no voice in government, etc. The majority of the episode as I said before focuses on the societal structure of the planet and the beginning of a cultural revolution.

This episode was filled with my main man Will Riker getting shot down by Angel One’s Elected One. He’d open his mouth and she’d pretty much just say “shut up you’re just a stupid man!” Priceless! Another priceless moment has to be when Riker emerged from the dressing room adorned with typical male Angel One fashions. Troi and Yar laughed, but you knew they were excited (wink wink). I think they failed at an attempt to make Riker look like TNG’s pretty boy/ hot
guy. Maybe without that B.S. uniform they had him in, he would have pulled it off. O well, to the task at hand! One thing that must have been an honor for Troi is that she got to make first, in sixty years, contact with the inhabitants of Angel One as opposed to the Captain or First Officer.

As I said before these events took place on earth as well, but reversed. As on earth, there were a few revolutionaries that turned out to be evolutionary. In this case Ramsey and his crew are the evolutionary factor. I honestly can’t say too much about this episode. I never liked it very much.

Back on the Enterprise I found it interesting that the only person left unaffected seemed to be Doctor Crusher who hung around all of the patients. And to think all of this was started because of some crazy Klingon scent. Those darn Klingons! And as usual Wesley starts the trouble too. Well that pretty much is it. I thought this was one of the low episodes of this season. I have nothing against strong women. Believe me the women ruling is not the reason I don’t like this episode.

All it seemed to be was a goofy first contact that really had no bearing on anything. If they cut the goofiness then it may have been better. 3 of 5. Hey it’s HUGH!!!

RATING:

out of 5
